Kranjska Gora is a picturesque mountain place at the edge of Slovenia, in Gorenjska region.
Kranjska Gora is the center of Gornjesavske valley and the starting point for a number of nearby ski centers. It is located at the intersection, 6 km away from the Italian and Austrian borders. It is particularly famous for its ski slopes, tradition and world championships.
Natural features such as altitude (810 m) and average temperature (average spring temperature is 11.8°C, and winter -2.5°C) makes it an ideal place for holiday.
Position at the crossroads of Karavanke and Julian Alps, surrounded by forests and meadows makes it attractive throughout the whole year. There aren’t seasonal effects although, of course, it is more famous for the winter and ski tourism. Ski season lasts from December to March.
Kranjska Gora is famous for the World Cup in Alpine skiing, as well as for ski jumping in Planica. Kranjska Gora ski center has a total of over 40 km ski slopes, which are provided through the beautiful mountain landscapes, some slopes are provided even through Italy and Austria.
There are different ski slopes for ski-beginners and less experienced skiers as well as for professional and advanced skiers. There are particular ski slopes for snowboarders.There are 4 types of slopes (by weight): for beginners (green), medium (red), advanced (black) and snowboarding (blue). There are 19 ski lifts, that carry about 18,000 skiers per hour on these slopes.
There are also bicycle paths around 150 km long. Kranjska Gora gives the possibility of climbing the frozen waterfalls, ice skating on frozen lake, snowboarding, hiking, horseback riding, bike riding, paragliding, fishing, golf and many other sports.
